The state machine reads the page directory entry, reads the page table entry, checks permissions, and writes back the Accessed and Dirty bits, all autonomously. This is, unfortunately, many developers’ first roadblock when getting started with WebAssembly. They assume that if they just have rustc installed and pass a –target=wasm flag that they’ll get something they could load in a browser.
